Anyone tried this nanny alternative?

Postby Mamanchelsea » Thu Dec 21, 2017 1:38 pm

Dear all,

I have just come across The Study House and wanted to know whether any of you are members? Their instagram says they are based in Chelsea, open Monday to Saturday they pick up and drop off and deal with all homework, tutoring, music and language lessons?? I mean, this sounds like the dream so I'd love to hear some reviews and opinions before I apply.

This is their website www.thestudyhouse.co.uk

Yes, we're members. Its such a great place I can only highly recommend it. All the tutors and staff are very nice and very bright. The environment is a great place to learn and my kids adore going there after school (I thought It would be a hassle). I love that I dont have to worry about pickup and dropoffs in the afternoon anymore and that the kids come home and genuinely have free time. Also, the fact they have CCTV is amazing (really makes me wonder why parents dont get this everywhere), as I can see how theyre really doing on my phone and do not need to get a summary from the members of staff.

Honestly, if the thought has only just crossed your mind all I can say is get in while you still can! My friend recommended us and I am so grateful to her! Kids absolutely adore going there, its still early days but so far all of their homework has been receiving top marks. I am really excited to see where this business goes - I have heard that they are opening more in different parts of the borough so its worth seeing the one in Chelsea as they will put you on waiting list for the next opening.

I think we were offered a place within a month - Not sure what they base their criteria on as I met a mother who did not know any current members before they applied.

Perhaps if the Chelsea location becomes over subscribed and there are enough parents this side of the river then they may be persuaded to open up a second location in NV!

We got membership offers and I am beyond excited now! Their waiting list for their other locations are open now and all members living closer to one of the new ones will be transferred in case anyone wants to ensure they get a place. I'll let you know how it is all going after a month or so. Thanks again for all of your opinions.

It's £2k a month, plus £1k membership fee. That's insanity.

@balhamito
Honestly I'd happily pay a grand on top given all of the services they offer. The memberships will actually be saving me £400+ a month which I used to spend on extra curricula classes, and not even including Extra tutoring. Not to mention having my Saturdays back and being able to have breakfast with the hubby whilst knowing that my kids are enjoying Mandarin and Chess classes - I am on cloud 9!

Oh! 2K is very expensive! But by all means, if it works go ahead. Especially if your children love it.

Just something to consider: I used to have an after school nanny, which was actually a cheaper option. She played with my son, cooked our supper (and tidied up the kitchen), and took my child to clubs and play dates. She wasn't great with homework so I did that after supper.

My son absolutely loved her. All for £10 per hour, 3 hours a day from school pick up till I was home. I did it 3 days a week and it was heaven. Took all the stress out of my day. She was always happy to stay for babysitting if necessary, or come a different day of the week if needed.

I am sure those sort of angels are heard to find though.

That is eye wateringly expensive. And when do these poor kids get a chance to play?!

You really cannot compare this to an hourly nanny. They do not nanny at the Study house but provide tutoring for school, languages and music - similar to what's on offer in Asia. I only pay £949 per month because my kids are under 11 which is a real bargain given a good tutor will set you back anything between £50-£100 per hour.

"Only" £949 per month per child? It's great to not have to see them at the weekend though!
