I think it depends on what your criteria are? Exit results? What are you looking for in a school?

We have a dd at Thomas's and are delighted with it. We have found it to be nurturing and dd loves going to school. The opportunities, love of learning it has fostered and the pastoral care have been outstanding. There is plenty of opportunity for outdoor learning, sport, art and drama but they have also taught her to read!

I have friends at both schools and my sense is that Newton is more pushy, seems to have more homework etc.
That is not what I am looking for at a school, especially in the early years but then I know some parents at Thomas's are unhappy about the focus on mindfulness over maths!

You don't mention Eaton House but I have heard that is quite academic although not selective.

I wouldn't think that there is much to choose between them. I would suggest that the exit results in terms of school destinations will give you a good indication. Both schools send their children off to pretty academic schools.
I have friends with children at both schools and they are all very happy. Newton seems very international in terms of cohort and outlook. Thomas's very sporty and more competitive. But I know more parents from the Clapham school as opposed to the Battersea School, maybe that is more international. It's certainly more royal  ;) if that floats your boat!
I'm sure that you will be happy whichever you choose.

Thank you both. Yet to go for T’s assessment but have been offered a place at NP. Suppose need to wait and see if DD actually gets a place at T’s as well.

I know little of Thomas's but we are very happy at NP. Only in our second year but many lovely parents and it certainly doesn't feel too pushy yet.
Might be worth considering what kind of school you want to be part of? NP seems a fair bit less traditional, venue is somewhat urban and grungy, uniform is a little less smart (this all sounds like criticism, but I mean it to be just the opposite)
