Disney Land Paris trip

Postby calliwally » Tue Jan 21, 2020 11:30 am

We are thinking of taking the kids to Disney Land Paris for a few days. The kids are finally tall enough to go on all the rides! Has anyone been and which of the hotels would you recommend or avoid? There seems a lot to do there, so would a 2 day pass cover most ground or would a 3 day pass be better (we only intend to do this once!) We would really appreciate any tips from your trips, MUST DO rides and attractions and advice on avoiding the big queues (is it worth buying a fast pass etc)
thanks

We’ve been a couple of times and stayed in the Disneyland Hotel which is right next to the park gates. The main advantage of staying there is you get early access to the park before it opens to the general public (and can get straight on the rides). We’ve gone for 4 nights (when there was an off peak buy 2 nights and get 2 free) and there’s easily enough to do to fill the time. Apart from the rides, there are some really good shows which are well worth pre-booking.  You can also buy meal packages so you can have meals in the various restaurants and meet all the characters there instead of having to queue for ages to meet them individually. There’s an app you can get which tells you how long the queues are everywhere which is also handy. The fast passes are really expensive so I would only buy them if you’re only going for a day or 2.

We stayed at the 'Cars' hotel - I think it's called Hotel Santa Fey. It was the cheapest of all the Disney options as we booked it so last minute so did not get any deals. The hotel was fine, clean and there was a shuttle service to the amusement park. The only thing was there was no pool. We were only there for 3 days so our focus was going to the park everyday and because you are in a Disney hotel, you can go in an hour before everyone else, but if we were to stay longer, then it would be nice to have a pool to come back to (we went in the summer). Mind you, I felt three days was enough, we were meant to be there for 3.5 days but opted to head back early on the last day. We all loved it but three days felt like the right amount of Disney. My kids were 3 and 5 at the time. They still remember it well and still ask to go back.

We went two years ago (when our children were 3 and 5) and are going again during February half-term. We opted to stay in an Airbnb and will be within walking distance (10-15mins) to Disneyland plus have cafes, restaurants and supermarkets on our doorstep. Chose this option as we wanted the flexibility of being able to prepare our own food etc (lots of restaurants in the resort just seem to sell American fast food plus I like cheese and wine in the evening!). If you stay outside of the resort aim to get there for 9.30 to collect tickets etc and doors open at 10am. As our children are young we skipped all the bid rides and took them to see the dragon under the castle and activities aimed at younger children (Snow White, Pinocchio, ‘small small world’, carousel rides etc). The app is great and gives estimated queuing times. We spent ages queuing for Snow Whites autograph and quite frankly wouldn’t bother doing that again. More fun to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere and rides. My top is give yourself sufficient time to a good position to see the parade (it’s fantastic!). We’re staying near the resort for a a couple of days followed by a night in central Paris so we can take the children sightseeing etc. Hope this helps!

Ps Sorry for the typos! I would also suggest you pack a spare Disney outfit / accessories for the children in case they want to dress as their favourite character. Zara and The Gap sell Micky and Minnie Mouse sweatshirts etc or you can buy them at the resort.
