Hi I can only give the perspective of a boy's mother in lower gcse year but we love it. I did also look at Ibstock as well as loads of others :-) It was a quite a while ago and things change. I was impressed with Ibstock but in the end the journey put me off.
In term of Emanuel, I would describe it as a very good all round school on the up. It still needs a little work here and there , the swimming pool for example is quite tired but with the new bridge build and the various new extensions I would say it has great facilities, seems to get good results, we aren't there yet and has a strong pastoral ethos. The provision during lockdown was excellent.
Local has been a gift in many ways, if your daughter likes sport and drama etc. and wants to get involved in extra curricular activities then being on the doorstep is so beneficial. Likewise having local teenage friends is a big plus from a safety perspective.
They are both good schools, good luck with your choice.
