Keep Kids Connected - laptop donations

Postby valeriagiulia » Fri Jan 15, 2021 2:22 pm

Hello parents and tutors!

My name is Valeria and I volunteer with Dons Local Action group, part of the AFC Wimbledon Foundation charity. We run an initiative called Keep Kids Connected, which collects donations of laptops under 8 years old to re-home with children who do not have a computer at home.

During this (third) lockdown, a lot of families are in need of a device. Are you able to help by donating an old laptop that you no longer need?

If it's under 8 years old they can work their IT magic by wiping all data and giving it a new lease of life to help with a child's remote learning. It’s hassle free, you just fill in a form and they arrange to come and collect the device from you.

Don’t have a device to donate? You can still help by buying an item from the Keep Kids Connected Amazon Wish List with items such as internet routers and SIM cards.

Thanks so much

Here are some wonderful testimonials from local schools:

“I was thrilled that this brilliant organisation was able to help us out. Many children at Garratt Park School don’t have computers at home, or have to share them with families. This donation will keep five of our students on the right path to the future. Thank you!”
Headteacher, Garratt Park School

“The families were over the moon and children were really excited to get into the virtual classroom! The devices your supporters donated will make a huge difference to these children and ensure that they can keep in contact with their teachers and classmates and access their remote lessons during lockdown. The work you are doing and generosity of your donors is invaluable. Thank you.”
Teacher, Furzedown Primary School

“We received the 5 laptops and tablets today. Thanks again, on behalf of our vulnerable children, who will really appreciate these.  With a huge number of children unable to return to school until September at the earliest,  it’s vital that they are able to access all of the online learning that’s available to them.”

“Pupils at Paddock Special school need additional support to access learning. Many of them have autism and have a special interest in technology, so to have a computer or tablet at home transforms their lives. Thanks to the generosity of Keep Kids Connected, the children who cannot come to school at the moment will be very busy using their new computers to learn, for relaxation and to communicate their wants and needs.  Thank you to all involved – this is making a huge difference to our pupils and their families.”
