Our popular 11+ ISEB summer workshop will help to prepare your child for the Autumn pre-test and 11+ exams. Content will include Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning (core and stretch skills) with a strong focus on ISEB exam technique and time management.
Master Maths: Accuracy, confidence & speed and how to confidently tackle unfamiliar maths puzzles and problems, the common pitfalls.
Verbal, Non-verbal and Spatial reasoning: Advanced pattern recognition, question types & associated strategies.
English Skills: Comprehension tips, and how to unpick difficult questions

Who will be teaching? At Mentor it is always about great teaching and this Summer’s Course director is a fully qualified teacher and 11+ admission specialist tutor. Learning in groups with like-minded children with the same goals is hugely beneficial and creates a collaborative environment where children can build on each other’s ideas and make new friends.
What you should know about the ISEB test: The ISEB Pre-test has a similar syllabus to other school entrance exams, covering Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. To some extent therefore, parents can prepare as they would normally for traditional written exams.
Exam technique: Is a critical part of preparing your child for their ISEB because multiple choice digital tests require a different approach. Normal advice, such as leave hard questions and come back to them if you have time at the end do not apply. In an ISEB test, each question must be answered, and candidates cannot go back to previous questions. Children need to practice this style of test because they will not necessarily have come across this before. Atom Learning and BOFA both have good digital practice options that correspond well with ISEB exams. A familiarisation test is also available on the ISEB website which demonstrates the look and feel of the tests.
