Pembridge hall versus queensgate school

Postby ManiD » Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:48 am

Hello - looking for some advice

My daughter has an option to chose between queensgate school in South kensington and Pembridge hall in Notting Hill. The other schools like glendower, falkner have no vacancy right now.

Both schools are same distance but we heard Pembridge hall is much better academically and a good track record of success at 11+. My daughter is in year 4.

At the same time I heard that few years ago Pembridge had issues with students leaving them.

Can anyone please guide me? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi I'm assuming you live near enough to both schools.

I don't have direct experience of these 2 but seeing as you wanted Glendower I get a feeling you want your daughter to try for St Paul's Girls or Godolphin for secondary. If that's the case then Pembridge Hall would be the better choice as they have a good proportion who go the Hammersmith schools from here, as well as boarding schools and elsewhere. But you know your child well and you know what she's capable of.

Queensgate will be an all through school so has that as benefit or a drawback.

I think all those academic girls schools( PH, Glendower, Falkner) in West London lose girls at 7 plus who go for Bute which is seen as the St Pauls Girls feeder as well as those you leave London or the UK.

Hope that helps, but do try and find parents in both schools to talk to as well.

Good luck!

Neither of these schools are in the Nappy Valley area so unless there are some interlopers (!) from over the river you might want to try a forum that’s more local to that area.
