Royal Russell v Whitgift

Postby AJ2012 » Mon Feb 20, 2023 9:20 am

Hi I would be keen to hear if anyone has any thoughts on Royal Russell v Whitgift going into year 7. My son lucky enough to have scholarship offer for RR which is attractive and offer from Whitgift. Especially interested in hearing from any SEN parents (ASD / ADHD) with mainstream boys.

I have 4 boys at Royal Russell. My child in year 8 (started RR yr6) was initially undiagnosed ADHD but the school suggested I went to have him tested. Since diagnosis and medication the school have implemented a plan for him. He is sat at the front of class, been offered touch typing classes, allowed to leave class for moments if he needs to, can photograph notes rather than write them Etc etc. For the first time in his school life he is loving school, he has a lovely group of friends, his grades have improved, he does a variety of clubs every evening, and is in a school footie team. The school have massively helped build his confidence. It’s a really kind, small school with big grounds and great facilities, the children are generally very happy. I would definitely recommend it.
