Where do you buy your kids school clothes?

Postby Almaceti » Mon Sep 05, 2011 4:10 pm

My son needs some grey trousers for school; I'm French so not used to uniforms! and it is his first school year. I have looked in usual brands like Mothercare, Gap kids, H&M, Next, but couln't find anything (basically they only have school clothes on catalogue not in store).
I ended up in Marks & Spencer today as he starts school on Wednesday so it became very urgent, and I bought 2 pairs of grey trousers in a horrible synthetic fabric; also I'm not sure of the cut as he wasnt with me to try them on.
I suppose not everybody buy their kids school clothes in supermarket for £8 a pair of trousers... so where are the places to go? and do these trousers have to be that sort of formal trousers (like mini suits trousers? - to be honest I find these a bit ridiculous on a 5year old), or can I find and buy cotton trousers or anything else?
Thanks for you help and hopefully he will only have to wear the ones I found today for a few days only.

I think M&S is about the best bet - for uniform style clothing. But which school is it for - if he doesnt need to be in school uniform then anything goes - within reason?

Hi
I m french too and asked myself the same questions the other day, although i still have a couple of years to go... I know a of of people who goes to John Lewis (or Peter Jones on Sloane Sq) but not sure if it is for private school only. I am sure if you find a cotton grey trousers it will be just fine, but maybe you want to discuss it with some mums at the school gate?

Try www.buissonniere.com, it's a Belgian brand but they deliver to the UK. Very classic (and good price / quality) clothes, love it.

Good luck!
