Year 5 Entry at Newton Prep

Are you considering moving your child into private education? Or perhaps you’re concerned about senior school entry exam preparation? Newton Prep, located in Battersea, is a co-educational school for children aged 3 to 13. Joining at Year 5 means your child will receive four years of uninterrupted education in a supportive and stimulating environment. We prepare every pupil for senior school, giving them the time and resources to become confident, well-rounded individuals.

Your Child's Journey At Newton Prep
  • Year 5: pupils are taught to familiarise themselves with 11+ / 13+ exam formats. Senior School preparation begins formally in the Spring Term of Year 5 with a general meeting with our Deputy Head - Senior School Transfer, followed by the opportunity for a one-to-one meeting to discuss your child and make a plan for their next steps.
  • Year 6: support continues with 11+ / 13+ exams, which are commonly taken during the Autumn Term in school. We provide guidance on interview techniques, giving pupils ample opportunity to practise with senior members of staff.
  • Years 7 & 8: The Newton Prep Diploma is a cross-curricular programme which is followed by our Year 7 and 8 pupils that combines the humanities subjects (Geography, History and Religious Studies) with Art and Drama so that they are taught in a thematic way. Supplementing the academic aspect of the Diploma are trips, workshops and charity events.
