Alleyns at 7+

Postby Wandworthmum17 » Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:44 am

Hello,

Our child is currently in a local state school and we are looking to switch her to Alleyns at 7plus next September.
We live in between the commons and do want to move.
My questions are
1) How do people with kids in alleyns and live in Wandsworth get them to and back from school?
I know there is a school bus but how long does the journey take everyday?

2) where do the other kids in the school live? I would like her to have school friends in the local area for play dates so wondered how difficult this will be. She currently goes to a school where all her friends live in the next few streets from us.

Thank you very much for reading x

Hi, if you look at the Alleyns coach service/school bus info it will give the pickup time for your local stop and that is how long it takes!!!!
Likewise any route planner/satnav/TFL route planner will give you times - or get on the local bus/get in your car and give it a go yourself!!
Re other kids locally, there will be a smattering of local kids in the same school year as them but with a broader admissions area that will obviously be far less than in a local state school with a limited catchment area. When children go to a school further away they will have fewer local friends - it’s basic geography.
Hi suspect you want soothing words re distance and friends - really is they will have to get up earlier, will get home later and have fewer local classmates.

Alleyns school bus is only for the secondary school, fact! You will have to take them. Most junior school kids there are relatively local, there is a slim chance of anyone being near to you bt not impossible. We had neighbours in this position and we are at the secondary now. Speak to admissions for the junior school who will confirm all of this. You may not get in anyway, is is a tough test for that age

@ Mememe - The school coach is not just for senior school. Our son goes to AJS and takes the coach from Wandsworth. Not sure where you got your information from but it is wrong.
