Latymer Upper School, a top independent school in Hammersmith, West London, has just announced that it will be dropping all GCSEs apart from English and Maths, instead creating its own qualifications designed to more creatively “stretch” its pupils.

Not sure that this works at all. Won't we just end up with every Independent School or Academy coming up with a different set of exams for their own school? Who will police it to make sure that there is some sort of equality in difficulty between subjects and grades?
