Open day "rules"?

Postby WorriedWifey » Fri May 05, 2017 1:28 pm

Hi
I'm starting to do the circuit of open days - are their any big do's and don'ts?

Also can anyone share any questions they found really useful? Hard to know where to start and I'm sure I'll remember stuff I should have asked.

Thank you

I'm not sure there are any 'rules' . Generally there's some sort of talk, usually given by the headteacher, and then you get a chance to look around the school. Sometimes the older children show groups around and they're quite chatty.

Hi
Agree - no obvious do's and don'ts.

Questions I found useful:

1. after school clubs
2. leavers destinations (if appropriate)
3. sports and where they play (some schools have long trips to play hockey for example and others don't play football)
4. drama/music
5. trips and cost of trips
6. discipline and how it works i.e. if children do something wrong

I found out at Woldingham last Sat that the exam is in Nov (has assumed it would be Jan like most others) and you hear by mid Dec, so this is worth checking.
