new fitted kitchen advice please

Postby Enkararis » Mon May 20, 2019 9:25 am

Hi i have a quote for a new kitchen from a local kitchen company.I am happy with the price for the units but the total cost includes $450 for a Franke fragranite sink, and $500 for an integrated microwave.
I can see decent stainless steel sinks for half that price and I know I can get a reasonable microwave from Ikea, as we also get employee discount at Currys is it cheeky to say we will source our own appliances and sink/tap.
thanks in advance

I don't think it is cheeky at all. I think that people are increasingly doing 'portfolio' work and sourcing different things from different suppliers. Don't pass up on the opportunity of using your discount but do obviously check that the appliances will be the right size etc.

You don't have to buy the extras from the kitchen company. It's a way for them to upsell and make some more profit. If you like them and the price then fair enough but it's your kitchen so check the sizes and buy the things you want and need. They won't mind, they predominately sell kitchens.

Its completely fine to use your own sourced appliances, its your home after all. Most companies would not be put out by this request from the client.  The goal is to get you that dream kitchen after all!

The Franke sinks are of high quality but if there's one equally as good that you prefer then let them know and ensure you discuss any specs or requirements/delivery dates that arent needed for them to complete the project!

Good luck on the new kitchen project!
