Dishwasher advice

Postby Kyake » Tue Nov 05, 2019 12:37 pm

HI all. We've just got a dishwasher off our local freecycle site (yippee!). Although in good working order, it hasn't been used in about four months, so it's a bit smelly. Any ideas what to 'run through' it with? We're not big on using anything too chemically though.Any advice greatly appreciated.....

Give the drain hole and filter at the bottom of the dishwasher a good clean out with hot water - preferably cleaning the various parts in your sink in they detach, remove the racks and soap down in the sink as well.

Fill a cup with 250ml of white vinegar and place on the top rack - do a hot cycle and this should wash away grease and grime.

Fill another cup with 100 -200ml of baking soda and sprinkle around the bottom of the cabinet - another hot wash should see it odour free and sparkling

I took this advice from a US website and it seems to work well! :D

Baking soda and white vinegar is the safest, least harmful way to effectively clean the outlet pipe on the dishwasher.
Some of the chemical based over the counter drain cleaners can do more harm than good.

Good luck
