Cost of new stairs? Any ideas?

Postby Busymumof2SW » Mon Sep 14, 2020 10:31 pm

We are renovating our house and need to change the stairs as well - 2 floors in total.

We got various quotes but the prices change quite considerably for what seems the same product.

Anyone has renovated and paid for new stairs? Just wondering if you could let me know how much you paid so we can have a concrete idea?

Thanks

We have just paid £9500 for a new staircase throughout. Five flights in Victorian style with spindles. I think cost depends on whether you go for pine or MDF or a combination of both.

I just had one flight of stairs added, MDF, as part of a loft extension, and it was £2000+VAT.
In light of the above it was not a great deal!

Hi Neat64 - would you mind sharing whether you went for wood or MDF, and how many storeys was that?

Also who you went with, as this sounds quite reasonable?

Many thanks in advance,
M
