High number of antisocial behaviour reported just on Belleville Post Reply

Hi all,

I realise that this is somewhat of an older thread, but am keen to get your insights on this topic. My husband and I love the look of the street and are looking to move here. However, we saw on ADT's site that there seems to be a very high number of antisocial behaviour reported just on Belleville for some reason - c.250 reports in a year vs.50-60 for e.g. Kelmscott or Wakehurst. Wondering if there is something of note - would appreciate any insights!

I've just had a look at the map and you're absolutely correct - and it's most odd. My initial thoughts were that perhaps the fact that Belleville School is on Belleville might mean that people complain about antisocial behaviour, but that seems ridiculously far fetched given that it's a primary school, and of course there is no corresponding uplift around Honeywell or Bolingbroke Academy.

As a resident of some 20 years, and having worked in property for that time, I wouldn't say that I have any knowledge of any increased 'issues' on Belleville Road, but the map does seem to show a very different picture.

My only thought was whether they simply put the number over Belleville Road as a central point of 'between the commons'.  Most unfortunate if you actually live on Belleville though...!!

Hi Jonny,

Thank you for the swift reply! Indeed, it is very odd and we have concluded it must be related to the school or a random central point on the map. The Met Police site used to show a street level view, but they changed their website recently and now you can only see a vague heat map or borough level data. We have also asked around and folks don't seem to be aware of issues, but caveat is that none of the people we asked actually live there (other agents, folks that live close to the area, etc).

I wonder if Belleville road is used as the default address for any reports of antisocial behaviour on Wandsworth common?
Or at least that side of the common?
If so, it will be all the teenage parties and muggings that we had a little spate of

Hmmm that is a bit strange. There were defiantly quite a few daytime muggings on that street about a year ago. And def some teenagers partying but I agree it does seem a bit high.

Having said that I walk my dogs down Belleville every day and there does seem to be groups of teenagers hanging around there often.

Maybe look at surrounding streets? If you want to insure your child getting into the school I’m sure there will be houses for sale very close too but not actually on Belleville itself?

It is very strange and I think the data is a bit distorted as it's for 'within 1 mile of' Belleville Road.

My family have lived on the west section of Belleville Road for years and find it very friendly. There are secondary school children from Bolingbroke Academy who can be a bit noisy and boisterous walking up and down the road in the mornings and afternoons, and parents and children dropping/collecting from Belleville Primary in the east section of Belleville Rd. The upside is that you have two very good schools very close by.

You are also close to Wandsworth Common and close to the shops (but not so close to CJ that parking is a nightmare).

I really don't know why there are so much antisocial behaviour reported - it doesn't feel that way!

This is strange and doesn’t make sense. Some silly comments up thread on why.

Only thing I can imagine is the large number of pupils give a distortion. In other words, if a pupil from Bollingbroke Academy has his/ her phone stolen, or is mugged of their phone, police will record the road of the school as a location. This is regardless of the fact the incident could have happened in the Wandsworth Common, for example.
