Jewellery Valuation Service

Postby sw11_ » Tue Sep 18, 2012 8:44 am

Hi all - need to renew my contents insurance but this time have decided i must be more organised and get my high value items valued so i know what i need to insure them for. Can anyone recommend a company who offers this service? I don't especially want to take all my jewellery out to a shop to get it valued but equally don't want to invite any murky tradesmen into my home and show them exactly what high value items i own - can anyone offer some advice? How do others get around this issue?

Thanks

Hi
I hope I can help.

Mr NVN took a watch in to Asquiths on Northcote Road to have it repaired and he was very impressed with the price (they were about 50% of the West End equivalent) and the turn around (they took a week to fix the watch, he'd been quoted 10 weeks in town).

Anyway, while he was there he asked about your valuation question and they said it is very hard for them to do home visits. They need to use quite a bit of equipment and it's simply not possible to take it to everyone's house.

However what he did go on to say was that they usually set up a valuation account in these circumstances. You then bring in a piece of jewellery at a time and they will value that and add it to the account. Over a period you bring in all your jewllery and you get the full valuation.

The chap was very helpful, his name is Nic Coles, email address is nic.coles@asquithsoflondon.co.uk tel. 0207 223 6473.

Hope this helps

A

ps full disclosure: they advertise with NVN but Asquiths didn't know it was Mr NVN visiting their shop. He didn't tell them and he paid full market rate for the watch repair.

Hi - I'd be happy to help! I am a trade jeweller working in London's Hatton Garden and living in Earlsfield. I specialise in making one-off and bespoke jewellery for private customers (engagement & eternity rings, pendants earrings etc), and I do "in home" valuations for all types of jewellery and watches. I charge a flat rate which includes a visit, photograph of all items and a valuation schedule and certificate for your insurance company. I store the images and details so that future valuations can be done quickly and easily. I work with several major insurance companies on replacement and repair issues. If you would like to call me on my office number 0207 242 3888 or email antony@sterlingcreations.biz I'd be happy to see if I can assist you.

Antony Vanderpump

PS I'd be happy to offer a discount if you mention NVN when you contact!
