Hi all

We are refurbishing our kitchen and want to install bi-fold doors. There are so many companies supplying it that it is difficult to know who to choose. I have 2 very good quotes from Anglian Home improvements and UKBifold. Has anyone used any of them?

Sorry - no direct experience of these two companies.
But we recently got a very good quote from Express BiFolding Doors for a Schuco-manufactured bifold door.

We were warned off express by our builder who had a shocking time with them on previous build.
We are using king seal at Clapham north.
Competitively priced and local so if anything goes wrong you are not trekking up to Manchester or similar to get it fixed.
I should caveat to say ours won't be in til Nov, but so far all the customer service etc has been v good.

We used Henry and Sons on a friends recommendation. They were much cheaper than the other quotes we had and we were completely delighted with the quality of the doors, efficient service and quick and clean installation.

Thanks all for the replies. I had a quote from Henry and Sons too but they were the same price as UKbifold but only offered a 1.8U value. After some hard negotiation UK Bifold offered 1.5 U value on a triple glazed for same price. I think I might go with them - wish me luck!!

We have recently had UK Bifold doors installed in our kitchen extension after our friends recommendation - she (3yrs on) and we (5mths on) are very happy with them.
They were professional & installation was a breeze compared to the rest of the build.

We had ours done by L2i and the make is Schuco. They are really really well made and I am very happy. Sunflex also supposed to be good.

Have you thought about not having them? We had them for a few years and they started out easy to open and then just got harder and harder until you had to use your entire weight to open them just a small amount. I hate the wretched things to be honest. Would never have them again!

we used cedar bi-fold on the recommendation of our builder and are really happy with them. they won't warp as cedar doesn't and as they are wood they fit with the style of the victorian houses.

Check out the UltraSlim retractable sliding doors by SunSeeker, they are amazing. They are very light and contemporary looking and you move each segment separately as suppose to moving the entire door - check out their website to see what I mean.
The installation was straight forward and we are very happy them. Previously we had a regular bi-fold doors and were much heavier and were nightmare to open.

Just an update on our experience with Express Bi-fold windows.. In a nutshell, WORST service ever. Guys delivered the windows with more than 3 weeks delay, giving only 2 days notice. All building works were delayed because of that. Once delivered, part of the fitting was missing and now - nearly one month after and 2 days before moving to the house - guys still haven't shown up to fix it. In addition, all windows were delivered with wrong handles and wrong curtain mechanism. JUST AVOID THEM as they are definetely not professional and will give you trouble,

Bought schuco doors last summer and they are awful - the wind whistles through, they were fitted wrongly, parts missing, damage on installation - the list goes on.

Even after a report by Schuco on the doors in Feb 2015, we are 2 months down the line with nothing happening.

The worst money I have spent - Avoid like the plague

I think it's unfair to blast a product when most likely what you're unhappy with is actually your fitter. We have Schuco doors and windows and can highly recommend!

Hi Audrey - I think you make a good point, but in this case the manufacturer was also the fitter!

I would not go near them again and have since seen many better doors
