Movers & Packers recommendation (URGENT!)

Postby falconmum » Mon Aug 18, 2014 11:40 am

hi ! We "maybe" moving in the next 3 weeks (drama!) , so need some recommendations on movers & packers to get quotes.
We are moving within Wandsworth , so not very far but have a FULL house including furniture to move :( :( :( :(

I need someone who is competent and can project manage this completely as both my husband and I may not be able to take time off due to short notice .

We used Cavendish & Country when we moved in April and they were very good. Nothing broken and the 'impossible sofa' did end up on the top floor without a scratch. And they're based in Battersea

Agreed - Cavendish and Country moved us earlier this year and we were very happy with the whole process. If you are time poor they also do an unpack service which can speed things up at the other end.

Recommended to us by our estate agents - I just booked the first one for our move in two weeks:

Burke and Wills: 020 8947 9001 and info@burkeandwillis.com – very good and will pack everything for you.

Manual Moves: 020 8947 6506 and andrew@manualmoves.com - also very good local firm

We used Burke & Wills and were very happy with them. Packed our entire house while I went out on playdates. Then they set up the beds, cot, plumbed in the washing machine etc in the new house so our first night was very comfortable & easy.

We wanted to use B&W but they book up very fast. We used Clockwork and they came recommended to us. Was very satisfied with them.

Gentleman and a Van are brilliant - very cost effective, and incredibly efficient - would really recommend!

I used Fantastic Removals two months ago. They do a good job and for the last few months they've been having discount offers, when combining two services. http://www.fantastic-removals.co.uk/price-list/

I made use of the voucher code by combining removals and end of tenancy, but you can also get a 10% discount with removals and packing.

I would recommend Elephant Removals and here are my reasons why, first of all I was quiet happy with the way they approached me, I never moved before and this was something a whole new experience for me.

The gentlemen over the phone were polite, do listen to your needs and give you the best advice.

At first I was worried but when the movers arrived, they knew exactly what to do and I did not need to hover on top of their heads to keep an eye on them.

Very polite, excellent understanding, good management, careful and most importantly friendly.

Highly recommended.

We did our big move one month ago with Burke and Wills and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. They were lovely guys, sweet withy the children and with the stressed out mother, and so thoughtful about keeping essentials to hand etc. and didn't bat an eyelid when I had them rummaging in a fully packed lorry for a mirror I had forgotten to tell them was meant to be staying. All in all they were fabulous. Couldn't fault them at all.

Don't use white van gentlemen! We made that mistake. The van broke down meaning we had to make extra trips in our car. There was obviously no feed back between the guy who came to give the quote and the men who came on the day... Was absolutely dreadful
