Has anyone done a loft conversion and ended up with a ceiling height in the loft of about 190cm?
We have been told this is what we could expect unless we lower the first floor ceilings and so thought I would ask some opinions.
we had this dilemma and dropped the ceilings in the two bedrooms below by 20cm - hardly noticeable in our rooms (which were about 280cm before) and has made world of difference to loft which is now over 210cm
hi i would think that the best thing to do would be to phone the council speak to building regs and ask the question it does seem very low 190cm if i remember when we did ours it was a minimum of 230cm 90"
I am doing my loft extension, my structural engineer strongly suggested we lower the 1st fl ceiling but our builder suggested not to do so. My husband is 6'4, so we had debated. I am so glad that we didn't, my loft is almost completed, the ceiling is about 2.2m and don't feel low at all. I guess it would depend on how builder put in the steel beam.
