Recs for window replacement, brick work, crack repair, etc.?

Postby Argon » Sun Jan 10, 2016 10:34 am

We have a number of things we need done inside and outside around our bay windows - crack repair, sill repair and facade painting, window replacement, shutters, etc. We'd love to find one company to do all the work but are struggling. The job(s?) is too small for most builders who do renovations and too big for most handyman.

We also can't decide if we need to go with just a windows company/specialist to replace our sash windows with double glazed, or if someone who might be able to care out the rest of the work could likely cover that too (or vice versa).

Recommendations or advice would be much appreciated.

Watching with interest as we have similar issues - a window with decayed surround and crumbling brickwork beneath it.

Try Werner and Werner. This is pretty big company but they do small jobs when they have free people. And they replaced windows in our house - they have their own distributor of sash windows with prices below average.
This is their website:

Hi shan72,

In our experience, it will be difficult to find a one-stop shop for everything you need and you could potentially end up paying project management fees on top of the labour and materials for the service, or there may be an imbalance in the quality of the different aspects.

It is a sound idea to know who is the manufacturer of your windows, and to see them before purchase. A one stop shop is unlikely to be the manufacturer, and I’m sure there are plenty of NVN users who can vouch against the issues experienced with their loft extension windows/doors that the builder sourced for them.

A good local decorator can work well following the installation of new windows and work around the areas that need attention, adjacent to the new windows.

Please get in touch if you wish to discuss further!
