Beware London Great Construction / Greg Builder (Mazur)

Postby szerma » Wed Feb 03, 2016 2:29 pm

Dear all,
Some people have seen me post about bad experiences with builders.
Some others have asked me to share the name of the builder from hell.

He's very clever at getting clients to pay a lot of money and then disappearing without a word. In fact, one disgruntled client already started a website naming him.

It took 1.5 years for us to go through small claims court and we just won the case. Getting the money back is another issue.

If you ever come across a guy calling himself "Greg Builder", who is Polish, ask for his surname. If his surname is Mazur, avoid like the plague.
He might also be operating under his company name, London Great Construction.

I also have words of wisdom for anyone who has a contract with a guy who is a "one man band" or even a small company which is a Limited company. You can't sue them directly, only the company, if things go haywire.

You could make them PERSONALLY liable by getting a personal guarantee from them as a director of the company. This would mean you could claim money from them if the company became insolvent. I did not know that - wish I did. I recommend this to anyone handing over significant amounts of money to a small builder.

I welcome any comments and happy to provide specific details of what the above named builder got up to. I have to say he's extremely convincing and a great marketer, hence gullible clients like us believe him (and unfortunately I know we weren't the only victims).

Best,
M

I'd be interested to know more. Mr Mazur is my neighbour, our gardens adjoin - it's public record on his previous company directorship if you wish to find his address (Azure Construction Ltd) I cannot post it here as it may contravene the Data Protection Act. He worked for me last year (supposedly a 5 week project) and lied from start to end (4 months till they left and over one year and snagging continue) my neighbours also used him and suffer similar issues also.On Monday he returned under threat of legal action, as I served him with a second default notice, to attempt to lay my kitchen floor again (attempt 8). I took two days out from our family holiday to oversee work but unsurprisingly he did his usual disappearing act and after confronting him yesterday he walked off the job and he's now threating me with assault charges - apparently I made him scared?!

Would be interested how your story unfolded.

He's left a proper mess but I'm done with him so gonna hire someone to clear the mess up and then sue him for the cost - fortunately I provided the contract in his name and the company making them wholly and severally liable.

We've just had a quote for a kitchen extension by a Greg Mazur who has a company called Windoor Ltd., registered as a new company in August.

I think he said he was from the Streatham area, but the company registered address is in Covent Garden.

Is there any way of checking if this is the same person?

Thank you
Shona

Hello Shona,
You can check director information - it should show his date of birth. This Greg Mazur lived in Streatham so it is too much of a coincidence that it would be different people. Needless to say, his old company is now being liquidated, even though he has not even followed that process thru as the liquidator he appointed has not been paid the whole amount so they are not acting on it (thus has been the case since July.

My advice - stay away!

We have fallen foul of Greg (Grzegorz) Mazur (Masur).  He is what could be termed as a pure Cowboy Builder.  The company is currently operating under the name Mirror Construction Ltd.  He has in the past worked under Windoor Group Ltd, and Great London Construction.

The work that is carried out is NOT of a good standard and borderline unsafe.  We know alot of people  who have had problems with this builder.  He starts a job and is very charismatic but please do not let that fool you.  He took money and didn't complete a job.  The bits his team did do needed to be redone at great expense.

STEER CLEAR AT ALL COSTS.

I am so sorry to hear that. I have tried everything I could. We sued through Small Claims Court and won - but never recovered a penny. The company folded, and there was no point in suing him as an individual, as there were no assets to go after - his house is in his wife's name (I checked Land Registry Records as had his home address).

It is heartbreaking that this guy is going around and stealing people's money. He is so persuasive and nice, a great con artist.

What contract did you have with the guy? I am assuming it wasn't a JCT contract? Did you pay all upfront?

Wow, we should name and shame this guy more!  How about we put his details on the SW11 Facebook page?  Or report him somehow?

I can't leave that post without comment (justice) or maybe Chintana or Shervin.
I did not steal even penny from this person.
Customer (Chintana ) had contract with crystals Ea (shervin d) to refurbishment her house. I collected some payments from customer but was passed to office. That was couple of first payments. Rest payments was collected by shervin' s worker and was dissapeared. I tried to help her to solve problems with building control and some works.
I was involved for couple project with crystal Ea until he cheated 10's of customers, subcontractors and workers.
Chintana if is not you posted this message but shervin I will call to police and lawyer.

Also one more thing to Maja S. ( Sherma)
Don't forget you did not pay penny for extra works which we did for you. I fault was that I trust you and did not put everything what we agreed to the contract.
Becareful with judgement without checking both sides. Internet take it all lie and truth

That's such a horrible thing to cheat so many people and steal thousands of pounds... no wonder people don't trust builders anymore when people like you just con them out of their money... at least everyone knows who to steer clear of now. Hopefully, no more work will come your way.
