tutors - how to find a decent one!

Please can anyone tell me how to find a decent tutor? I think our eldest is going to need a bit of help preparing for the CE exams...

My absolute top tip is to talk to other mums whose children are higher up the school and find out who they're using/have used. It's definitely a word of mouth thing, because you need someone proven, but you'll also discover that a lot of mums will jealously guard their tutors names, so you may have to do some careful sleuthing! I'm not sure about these big cramming schools - I know there are quite a few in the SW area, but I've never met anyone who has used one. Good luck!
