Nick Wales nice manner and helpful.

Keith Duncan - actually operated on me but not that warm a personality that is for sure.

Echo Ms Savvidou AS AMAZING - she saved my life postnatally and came to visit me several times even though I wasn't her direct patient!

My health insurance covered KW, it IS GREAT!

Yes I was on the kensington wing, full cost almost 15k I think for consultant, anaesthetist, hospital fees and scans. It's a few cheaper for a natural delivery.

Just wanted to add that is important to call and make an appointment to see your preferred doctor privately ASAP. As somebody else said each doctor takes a a limited number of delivery per months. For example for delivery date in September 5 patients, October 6 patients etc.. Once these numbers fill up they do not accept new patients no matter who you are. As on call is very stressful and quite "full on" for the doctor they cannot do more than a certain number of deliveries per months

So make a list with with preferences from 1 to 6 then call around. Most times the secretary will ask you when is your due date over the phone and advise there is no point coming to see the doctor as he/she is fully booked for that month. Female doctors booked out first.

Good luck. Definitely use your insurance and go privately if you can afford it.

I am due on the 15th December and am booked in with Nick Wales. I have had PCOS and he has looked after me since 2006 - I find him very easy as does my husband - he is very straight talking and you feel you can ask questions. We have had Keith for the scans as well - I think he is very shy.

Another vote for the KW at C & W and also for Nick Wales, the midwives are also v.helpful in there.

Good luck :)

I had Mark Johnson and I simply cannot rate him highly enough. The whole thing sans insurance is pretty wildly expensive but it was worth every penny. I felt utterly safe under his care and it is so worth it having a doctor you know when you are in the throes of labour and all the stress it entails. I was in labour for the best part of 36 hours and I can honestly say that Mark was around for all of it. God know when he slept! If you can get him (which can be very tricky as he is super popular) go for him!

Agree with Sophie, Mark Johnson is amazing! Had my first with zoe penn and was so disappointed when she retired so booked Mark for no.2. And actually preferred him to zoe. You might be too late to book him though, I booked the day the second line appeared

We were looked after by Roshni Patel for our first baby whom was born in April.
She was amazing and we've already asked her to save us a spot for our second baby (whenever that may be)!

I am under Keith Duncan and have found his knowledge to be excellent.
I wouldn't say he is cold as such, perhaps a little shy but at the end of the day his medical knowledge is second to none which is what one needs.
He specialises in twins, older mums and does both normal births and c sections.
There is always someone on the end of the phone 24/7. I am suffering from very bad morning sickness which is all day and although to some people minor it's been horrific and I've not been made to feel like I am wasting anyone's time.
Mr Duncan also does all of the scans. No question has been too small and he's spent time answering everything.
His PA Laura is a delight to deal with too.

I'm presuming based on the date of your post you made a decision - who did you go with?
I thoroughly recommend Keith Duncan, I had 3 children (all emergency c-section) under his care. They work in teams and nick wales and Keith work together, so if you book in with Keith and he isn't available when you go into labour (very unusual) you know you're still in safe hands! Nick's lovely too but you build up a relationship with Keith as he does your scans as well.
