where to find children's bookshelves?

Postby Mary-in-Earlsfield » Sat Nov 21, 2015 3:40 pm

Hi again,
I'm also desperate to find some bookcase solutions for my children's rooms that look nice, hold a lot of easy to access books, and don't cost the earth. I'm disappointed with the offerings and cost of places like GLTC and JoJo and I'm wondering if I'm missing some good options out there?
Thanks again!

Did you try IKEA? The Kallax line (former Expedit) has lots of colours and combinations with drawers, etc. From what I could see so far it gives a good sturdiness-for-money trade-off. Or are you looking for the typical "book face out" children's bookshelves? The idea looks lovely, but I must say that even a traditional layout never prevented my children from choosing a book...

Agree Ikea is a good option for cheap. Vertbaudet also do a few more interesting ones (can't vouch for the quality though). Made.com and Loaf also do good kids ranges.

We seem to have enough children's books to start a small library- they're the one thing I refuse to part with!

My kids share a (small) room and have loads of bookshelves!

We have:

A GLTC 'dolls house' bookcase
2 x GLTC star shelf bookcases that fix to the wall and have hooks underneath for hanging coats etc. these are most suitable for 'chapter' books i.e not large books.
2 x tidy books bookcases which are very slim and don't take up much room- the books face outwards and you can fit quite a lot in although obviously you can't see the ones that are behind
They then have a GLTC abbeville 4 cube storage unit- 2 'cubes' have canvas boxes in for toys, the other two have books in and it looks lovely.
