Postby Stars and Stripes » Fri Sep 29, 2023 5:00 pm

Did anyone see this? I would be terrified to discover a python in my house

Yikes

If you've got gaps in the wall big enough for a python then you can expect rats and squirrels too!

In the mid 1970’s I worked for an American burger restaurant chain in London in charge of electrical maintenance, called “The great American success” At the Kensington branch (now a shoe shop) the Iranian chef had a pet boa constrictor snake (3ft long) which he kept as a mouse and rat killer at the restaurant rear kitchen. One day it disappeared and nobody could find it. The chef was very upset. At the front of the restaurant in the basement was a store room with the ladies and gents toilets next to it. At that time all the waitresses used to wear miniskirts as part of their uniforms. One evening while the place was very busy a loud screaming came from the toilets that it could be heard at the back in the kitchens as well as through the whole place! So loud we thought a girl had been attacked, murdered or raped. The doorman, manager, I and one of the kitchen staff ran to the toilets expecting the worst. We rushed into the ladies and the doorman kicked the door to the stall open where the screaming was coming from. The boa constrictor had come out of the toilet just as the young waitress was sitting down! The chef ran from the kitchen and was overjoyed to get his snake back! Went down kitchen toilet through drain pipe below restaurant and came up in customer/staff toilets at other end in basement. It was never reported as no member of the public was involved and the health inspector probably would have had something to say about mice, rats, and snakes in the restaurant! The waitress and snake were unharmed.

What's the relevance of miniskirts being part of the uniform?

This late night Resturaunt group was based on american  hamburger resturaunts in the 1970s and was part of the uniform of the time in USA of the type of place. All the waitresses were young good looking and wore miniskirts.Very busy and upmarket place with loud music of the period. Freddy mercury who lived nearby was a regular customer and I spoke to him a few times.Nice guy but not my type as I prefered the waitresses but they did not prefer me!  :D :o

There have been several snakes found in Balham and Tooting lately: has anyone else noticed?!
