School advice please

Postby Mellyberry » Fri Nov 24, 2023 1:39 pm

Hi all,

I am currently viewing primary schools for an in year 5 transfer as my daughter’s current school is not what it used to be and most importantly I don’t feel they are giving her the best support with her SPLD learning needs.
I would be very grateful for any advice on the below schools In regard to their SEND/INCLUSION team.

Telferscot
Henry Cavendish
Honeywell
Belleville
Ravenstone
Alderbrooke

I would highly recommend that you visit Floreat School Wandsworth. They were recently advised by Ofsted that they expect to upgrade them to Outstanding, and I can certainly attest to their excellence.  I have my two sons at the school, one with addition educational needs and they have been absolutely fantastic with him.

Best of luck with your search.

Thank you Ruth. Unfortunately it’s a little too far for us. Glad your sons are happy and doing well in school

Definitely not Honeywell - I removed my child a year ago as their SEN provision is shocking. Both previous SENCOs have now left and the new one is not good, not available, they keep saying that the class teacher can deal with everything and you don't need to involve SENCO in anything. Even asking for a meeting is a battle. Awful. We've since moved further afield but I've heard amazing things about Ravenstone (from two close friends) and some good things about Telferscot. Mixed things about Belleville but I would say definitely better than Honeywell and we briefly considered it too. I have no knowledge of the other two from SEN perspective

Have you considered Sacred Heart in Battersea?  It's the most wonderful school with a brilliant SENCO.  Very inclusive with an excellent Head.    I have a son with autism who went there and he thrived.

That’s very sad to hear. I’ve met Mrs Hunt a few times (is she the new one?) I was told they had a specialist dyslexic teacher? And classes are quite small considering 3 form entry.

Not looked into that one as it seems a little further afield. Glad your son had an amazing experience there 😊
