Well, if they start behaving like Tesco it won’t be fun!
They have their car park full of builder’s vans after they sold off land to development.
To sort this issue, they’ve asked the external parking management company to be extra harsh!
A minute over the time and expect a fine, same for parking in the wrong bay.
They use cameras to spy on people … it’s very un-welcoming.
Less people, more machines is the new mantra.
A bit like the ridiculous tills Waitrose added, hate them. Scales are not but enough and most people do big shops in there. Absolutely detest scanning my own shop unless I’m buying literally 2-3 items.
I haven’t used a manned checkout in years as I signed up to the have held scanners which make the whole thing so much less painful. No need to empty your trolley as you pack - you just pack as you shop.
Re the car park - the Southside car park has number plate recognition. If you can manage to shop in an hour then Waitrose give you a voucher for free parking (£2.50) but if you go over an hour you have to pay £2.50 (usual price is £3.80) which is totally illogical. I find it hard to shop in an hour (especially if I have to pop to other shops) so it’s annoying. Having said that the pay machines at Balham Waitrose are so user-unfriendly that I think number plate recognition would be an improvement!
