Clapham South violent assault

Postby Community Editor » Mon Feb 19, 2024 2:41 pm

This was shared with us from another local social media site and the incident took place last Monday night, 12 February:

SAFETY WARNING: My husband got the last train home on Monday night (12.50am) after working late. 2 guys in hoodies COMPLETELY UNKNOWN TO HIM approached him a few metres from Clapham South tube and punched him to the ground, dragged him onto the common and kicked him viciously for 10 minutes. Nothing stolen. He was found by police.

If anyone saw or heard anything please message me directly* Be vigilant. I cannot give out any details re assailants as it’s a police investigation now. They were in hoodies.

* If anyone did see anything then do DM us and we'll pass it onto the person who originally posted this

A gang initiation apparently. Our nearest tube station. Absolutely sick and worrying that this happens in our city.
I hope the victim and his family are doing okay and crazy to think how unlucky he got when they were looking out for anyone to attack like that.

Clapham South and Wandsworth common are not safe areas to be walking later at night. I live 10 mins walk from the station towards Wandsworth common and when I work late I take the tube till Balham and a taxi from there. It is expensive but I would regret if I were attacked, so I just cut on other things.

This is so worrying and sad to read.
Horrific.

I hope they manage to catch them!!

Police need to be visible and around stations at night, perhaps Siddique Khan has a response....but he's too busy organising LTN's.

Is there any independent corroboration of this? There are no reports on any news sites.

You need to be really careful about posting unsubstantiated rumours about violent crime.

If you can't get this story to stand up, please delete this post.

It was shared to me from Next door. The person said said her husband had been attacked randomly at around midnight leaving Clapham South tube and a police investigation said it was a " gang initiation " attack. It is shocking but I hear that is a rite of passage to be a gang member. I have no idea why anyone would make that up?I also don't rhubarb everything is reported in the news.

This is truly disgusting and something more akin to the 3rd world.

I can imagine anyone could be unfortunate enough to be on a late train and be targeted by these scum.

I am also surprised that no description of these thugs, either by the poor victim or the Police, has been given - apart from the fact they were wearing hoodies! ... So much for my Husband or Sons being able to spot them beforehand - why aren't they described???
