swimming lessons?

Postby Sabz » Tue Nov 01, 2011 6:08 pm

Hi I'm new to nappeyvalley and this is my first post!
My son is four years old and I'm looking for somewhere where they do swimming lessons for complete beginners. I would prefer weekends but after school could be an option. I'm in the putney area. I've looked around but had no luck. Thanks x

I've used the Sarah Harris swimming school which is at Linden Lodge school near Southfields. My children did an intensive course and learnt in a week!

My daughter has her swimming lessons at Fulham Pools and only started when she was 4 years old as well. They have a car park and do have lessons at the weekend.

Actually - I have the same question... I'm looking for swim classes for my 2 year old, but within walking distance of Northcote area. He is currently going to lessons at the Tooting Bec Leisure Centre, but it's a bus ride away, while the Balham Leisure Centre doesn't give lessons to under 5 and I find the Latchmere pool just a bit too dirty! Does any one know of a pool or private swim class "between the commons"?

This one is opening in January and looks lovely and luxurious (and warm - unlike some) http://www.londonbabyswim.co.uk/locations/wandsworth/

I would recommend South West Swimming - have used both Henry Cavendish School pool in Balham - tends to be for younger children - my child moved in reception year to Emmanuel School. Lessons for pre school in daytime , then after school and saturday mornings. SW swimming offer 1:1, 1:2 and 1:4 lessons + intensive holiday courses.

They are not the most organised with regard website or ease of booking but please don't let this put you off - the teaching is good and we have been with them for nearly 2 years. My child now swims but i intend to keep going until learn't all strokes.
