Ah yes Jo Rigby the over reacting drama Queen who celebrated LTN’s and mourned when they were taken out . She hates the motorist. Yes the risk between cycles and cars is asymmetrical . Cars are kept to 20 mph yet cyclists speed down roads going through red lights or on pavements daily with no recourse and they do kill and often maim as my friend can attest to when she was knocked down by a cyclists cycling the wrong way who hit her from behind . Sadly mistakes happen but cyclists do it more regularly and deliberately without recourse

Oh dear, Cycling Mad, it's truly unfortunate that you seem to lack the intellectual capacity to grasp the sense in my comment to Morningblues. It must be quite frustrating for you. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do to help with your comprehension difficulties. Perhaps your best bet would be to find someone else who can read it and explain it to you in simpler terms. With any luck, they can relay the meaning in a way that's more accessible for you. Best of luck with that endeavor!

Hey CyclingLondon, I wanted to highlight that cyclists can be just as much of a danger to pedestrians as cars. Both can cause serious injury and even death when safety rules are ignored. Reckless cycling in pedestrian-heavy areas, running red lights, or speeding through crosswalks can lead to severe accidents just as easily as irresponsible driving. It's crucial for everyone, including cyclists, to be mindful and responsible, adhering to traffic laws and respecting pedestrian spaces to ensure the safety of all road users.

Nsm321 myself and probably most on here are not attacking cyclists, but cyclists who do not follow the very clear rules that apply to them. CyclingLondon and others seem to be suggesting that the rules just be abandoned (or perhaps just disapplies to themselves, as they are clearly such amazing cyclists) as the seriousness of a crash with a cyclist is less than the seriousness of a crash with a car. Never mind that casualties, including deaths, do happen and are on the increase. Never mind that it is incredibly intimidating for pedestrians, including frail adults, the blind and children, not to feel that it is safe to cross at a pedestrian crossing as they have to swerve cyclists approaching them, often at speed, despite the green man showing. Just because cyclists are taking automobile traffic off the road doesn't mean they get a free pass to skip the rules. I am all for cycling and wish that it was safer to cycle in London and there were even more bikes on the road, but cyclists like LondonCycling are only providing fodder for the anti-cycling lobby. By the way, pedestrians also take traffic off the road. Show them some respect.

Cycling London, the link you shared is three years out of date, but otherwise shows that cyclists do indeed cause serious injury to a lot of pedestrians, 447 casualties on average a year.

Literally not true.

As someone who walks locally (but does drive too) I am sick and tired of apparently colour blind cyclists running red lights and cyclists unable to distinguish black from white so ignoring zebra crossings. It is long past the time when cyclists on public roads should be required to have insurance and stick to the Highway Code.

Just read this thread and absolutely agree that this post and Cycling London only prove the arrogance of some cyclists and give cyclists in general a bad name. Shame.

On another unrelated point - Mikeydon, your rudeness to the poster who didn't agree with you is disgusting. Patronizing and attacking someone's intellect just because they disagree with you, is a greater reflection on you than it is on them. Your post is actually abusive and I wonder if it should be flagged

Last week I got sworn at by a cyclist for crossing the road . :? Apparently I didn't "f***ing watch where I was going" because he wanted to not stop at the junction for pedestrians.

Middle aged man in lycra and at top speed, probably on his way to work as was I or possibly Richmond park as that's the route. They get away with abuse because there is no way to identify them. Ive seen them almost miss school children and get irritated with pensioners for their slow speed crossing the road when pedestrians are crossing. Always the same type breaking rules and still indignant for some bizarre reason! A midlife crisis? I really don't know. I cycle often too but there is definitelt a type of cyclist I am referring too.

I absolutely agree Starr! Haha. Your post made me laugh. There is definitely a type! And it's usually relatively fit middle aged men in expensive lycra (I mean - all the gear is there!), probably desperately chasing their disappearing youth and sex appeal...

MickeyD - I and most of Nappy Valley understand what the post was getting at but just because you didn’t doesn’t call for rudeness . This isn't twitter . people’s personalities often are reflected in their behavior and I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that you are the type that give cyclists a bad name given your nasty overreaction to a comment . God help us all when you put on Lycra .

Perfectly put Kirsty's mum. I think our MickeyDon is probably a little man who is scared to say boo to a goose in real life so he is taking to anonymous posts to unleash some deep seeded angst. Lycra clad presumably

Should be deep-seated - sorry, phone autocorrect! Thought I would clarify in case it sparks some more abuse from MickeyD?
