blackout blinds

Could anyone suggest somewhere to get blackout blinds for a nursery? I have tried J Lewis but the lead time is a bit longer than expected.

Hiya, I could help you with this. I’m a local curtain and blind maker. What type of blackout blind were you looking for?

Speak to Jessie at Shutterlove - they do blinds and curtains (and garden awnings) as well as shutters. https://shutter-love.co.uk

I’d also recommend Bloc Blinds. They use specific design techniques that truly enable all the light to be blocked out - amazing!

I have used the Scottish Holland Blind Company for blackout and ordinary roller blinds. They are not expensive, quick and efficient. I have had blinds made and delivered within a few days of order. I’ve no connection with the company. The only thing to be careful about is to be absolutely sure about your width measurements.

I use Easyblackoutblinds which work using velcro pads stuck to the window frame and then a sheet of special fabric that attaches to the pads. They do a 97% job I’d say, especially if you measure the fabric so there’s a bit of excess all round. They can be rolled up quite easily for daily light and storage in the winter.

If you want 100% then you’d need a cassette system like Bloc blinds but they’re a lot more expensive and have a bulky part at the top which wouldn’t fit under our existing roman blinds.

We offer custom made shutters, venetian blinds as well as black out roller blinds. Bespoke design and made in our own facility in Europe with 4-5 weeks lead time.
Hope we can help,
Nina

We have blackout blinds by these Northern Irish company: https://www.blocblinds.co.uk/
We spent ages looking into it and this was the best option we managed to find
Finding an installer wasn't easy. The Shutter Shop in Fulham botched the installation in one room.
For the other rooms, we called https://rtblinds.co.uk/ who did a better job

Maybe contact the manufacturer to see if they now have more installers in the area

I went through something similar when setting up my little one’s room. I ended up getting mine from a local store that specialized in custom window treatments. They were super helpful and even installed them for me.

I found that having Canberra outdoor blinds also made a huge difference when we transitioned to a more active nap schedule. It’s nice to have the flexibility of opening them up during the day while still blocking out the light for nap time. If you’re looking for something quicker, checking out local home improvement stores might yield some good options, too.
