Treat place for ear piercing.

Postby rubyonrails » Thu Sep 05, 2024 7:13 pm

Can anyone point me in the direction of an ear piercing studio? I want to take my goddaughter, teenager, when she comes to visit next weekend for her birthday. Happy to take her to Selfridges or similar if they have a studio. Just wondering where a treat place might be.

Astrid and Miyu is lovely and very professional, and they recently opened a flagship store on Carnaby street.

I second the recommendation for Maria Tash at Liberty but do call to check they have suitable earrings in stock first as they didn’t hold any matching plain gold studs in stock in store when I took my daughter. Only diamond studs were available which would have set me back £800 for the pair.

Monica Vinader has recently started an ear piercing service at their Chelsea store. They have a minimum age limit but I can't recall what it is so you'd have to check on their website.

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at Astrid and Miyu on the King’s Road last week. The piercer and staff couldn’t have been more lovely and I should imagine most girls would love the decor there.

I took my daughter to Monica Vinader and it was fantastic. We went to the Covent Garden one, but the Chelsea store is lovelier. I’ve had piercings at Maria Tash too but the earrings are VERY expensive for a teen. There’s more choice of reasonable starter studs at MV. And to note - both places do the screw in proper piercing studs, so they’re unlikely to continue wearing them once healed. They’re difficult and fiddly for them to put in and take out.

(And you need to book ahead - and take a passport under a certain age).

Thank you all so much for these lovely replies. I think that I will check out the ages for Monica and also Astrid and Miyu on the Kings Road. I'm sure that she would enjoy a trip there and we have lunch too.

I’m sure the answer to this is yes but remembering the post a while back about the woman who was incensed that her mother-in-law had cut her child’s hair without telling her - I assume you have the approval of the girl’s parent/s? I really found it a special occasion taking my daughter to have her ears pierced and am a little surprised the girl’s mother/parent is happy to outsource this to a godmother. Obviously I don’t know the details in this case (and none of my business!) and I’m sure it’s all fine but just in case any other godmothers are reading this and thinking they would take their goddaughter without checking with the parents…!

Hi NVG.
Good to highlight but yes, all with the approval of parents in my case!
