Today (October 10) is World Mental Health Day, which this year focuses on workplace mental health.
Wandsworth has a range of support for its own staff and helps local businesses positively influence their employees’ health – including their mental health.
Mental health services are available across the borough for local people. Wandsworth helps fund the Good Thinking website – a pan-London resource that includes screening for common mental health disorders and support for employers and employees.
Other help in Wandsworth includes free talking therapies, support to help mental health service users maintain their tenancy and live independently, and urgent mental health support.
Graeme Henderson, Cabinet Member for Health, said: “Poor mental health is likely to affect at least one in four of us during our lifetime. In particular, it is the most common cause of sickness absence at work.
“It is vital that all employers help their staff to maintain good mental health by supporting awareness campaigns and providing a supportive environment at work."
