As a resident of Wandsworth and living beside Tooting Common, I was very upset and concerned to see notices at the park advertising the company Enable, who want a licence to arrange events including live music day events.
I am absolutely outraged that this could happen.
I have lived beside the park for nearly 20 years and walk there each week and also use the Lido, which is the exact area this company Enable want to use. I am sure I am not the only local who thinks the same. We do not want to be kept awake in an evening listening to a live event after trolling through hoards of people destroying our park and area during the day.
Can you please help to stop such an inconsiderate company who want to inflict loud music and an influx in people into our beautiful area?
Enable are trying to make an argument that they are bringing Culture to the area. As an artist and a member of Wigmore Hall and the Royal Astronomical Society, these are places of culture, what Enable will be arranging are nothing more then loud invasive parties.
I have been to these 'cultural music events' in Battersea and Crystal Palace in the past. They are over crowded, too loud, run too late into the night and bad for the local environment.
Enable are giving no consideration to the local residents or the local wildlife.
Over the last few years the council has put up notices regarding litter effecting foxes, squirrels, duck and birds in the area. We are already struggling to maintain the park which already gets very busy come Spring. As you know we also have a historic lake in this area which houses so much wildlife and a pleasure to visit.
I presume they have chosen winter time to put their notices up when the number of people using the park has dropped and there is less chance of someone seeing these notices and filing a complaint.
I would be very grateful for your support on this issue.
The email address for complaints/comments is
licensing@merton.gov.uk
Can you please write to them to assist with this matter? It would be greatly appreciated.
Please act now!!!
With kind regards,
Emma.
