Sorry to see that Couleur Cafe has closed

Postby bubbaboo groups » Mon Sep 03, 2012 9:54 pm

I just saw that the cafe on Webbs Rd has closed. I enjoyed going here with friends, especially in the early months after my son was born so I am very sorry to see it has closed. Best wishes to the owners.

It is sad indeed...
I have got to know them through going to their shop and talking to them, and they are two lovely ladies and their team was nice too.
I wish every coffee shops in the area could be that friendly, kind and welcoming (snd serving yummy food and coffee). They genuinely loved their customers. So it is very sad that all of their qualities didnt keep them :(
Good luck for whatever they do in the future!

Does anyone know why they closed - financial reasons? They always seemed very busy...

On their Facebook page, they posted a message saying that it was due to the difficult economic conditions.

It is sad indeed, I agree that there was something special and a great atmosphere there. I used them a lot when my daughter was young and I was on maternity leave, sadly less so since I went back to work.

I hope they'll create something new and exciting somewhere else.

I fear that people believed it was busy because they frequented the cafe during term time. In school holidays I bet it was quite tough for them on Webbs Road. The owners used my carpenter quite a bit it and it is a real shame as they are nice people. Reality is webbs road doesn't have the footfall so the businesses have to fight for customers with "chains" on Ncote (not saying that's a bad thing because it means that competition remains good). But the comedy is that lots of people have posted on the "what we want on Ncote Rd" chain on NVN and said they want independent friendly coffee shops etc ... clearly not that much! Support the smaller independents in SW11 as soon the area will be a soulless copy of every Jack Wills jumper around the shoulder boring corporate high street.

I loved the shop too especially the hot chocolates, I did find the service could be very slow though sometimes.

Didn't they close for the whole of August last year though out of choice?

we live nearby and used to get our lunch there a lot as we work from home... such a shame it's gone but the rents are the problem and no doubt we'll end up with another chain before long.
