Recommendations for removal companies

Postby Dilydream » Mon Dec 02, 2013 2:37 pm

Hello Ladies,

I would love some recommendations for good removal companies. I would like them to pack as well. (I have already tried Burke & Wills but they are booked up).

Thanks in advance.

comparemymove.co.uk are good for various quotes.
I've also seen Cavendish and Country , Clockwork and Burke and Wills and Tactical Moves all recommended by local mums. Also Gentleman and A Van are recommended.
Good luck with the move

We used Aussie Man and a Van- they packed up our house and did our move. So professional and super quick. An absolute pleasure to work with in what is a very stressful time! They even thought to make sure our son's room was unpacked and sorted first so he could have his nap. I would definitely recommend.

M25 removals - they are based in North London so haven't caught on to the ridiculous prices that businesses seem to think they can charge people just because they live in "nappy valley". We paid around £650 for our move through them. Quotes from Nappy valley removal companies ranged from £1300 - £1800 (5 different companies) for EXACTLY the same service.

M25 were professional, efficient and careful (nothing broken)

We used Anthony Ward Thomas on our last two moves and were really pleased with them.

We have moved quite a few times in the last few years and now get them to do all the packing too. It's really worth it. I even went off to work once and left them to it and just returned to a new house. Simps!

AWT even put the important bits of furniture back together for us so last time the baby's room was all back together, beds etc all assembled.

Just make sure they are properly insured and briefed not to bash the interior walls of your new home...friends of ours had chunks of plaster knocked off and wall paper scraped when they recently moved using a well known company.
Reluctantly they claimed for the damage to their new home from the movers who stumped up. Their walls are now freshly decorated and repaired but the upheaval of decorators on top of everything else involved with settling in was an unnecessary hastle. Happy moving!

I'd highly recommend the local company 'Gentleman and a van'. The guys were very careful, cheerful and efficient.

Hi Dilydream,

We are Alexanders Removals and Storage, a family run company, and we would be happy to help you. We specialise in flat and house removals and our aim is to make things simple for you. We move lots of expectant and new mums, we were pleased that one client recently told us that she felt so comfortable with our team in her house that she and her baby had a few hours sleep during the move!

We also donate a percentage of the cost of your move to your child's / local school's PTA when you move with us.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like a free, no obligation survey for your move.
