Builder warning

Postby TootingFam » Thu Feb 13, 2020 7:07 pm

Hi All.

Do not use (under any circumstance) Richard Newman from Harlow currently trading under 'Wandsworth Extensions and Lofts'. We've had a total nightmare with him - rude, lying, threatening and every excuse under the sun.

This builder has every excuse under the sun and has attended more funerals than a parish priest, and has had the worst luck with banking accounts being hacked, pets dying, a cancer diagnosis, window suppliers losing orders or going under, steels being lost or incorrectly made - yet when challenged is unable to provide any proof.

From my understanding he always wants payments in advance as he's robbing Peter to pay Paul.

The classic one is asking for a 10% deposit payment stating it's for the steels as they need to be "ordered in advance"  when the more experienced person would know you wouldn't order them until you knew the exact size  of the structure built.

We know of a number of families in Wandsworth and Hertfordshire where he has left their houses uninhabitable and/or walked off the job.

We have recently heard from one of his ex-trades that he has started again in Wandsworth.

Tom

Hi Tom

I'm sorry that you too have fallen victim to Richard Newman. We had a kitchen extension done by him a few years ago and it was the biggest disaster. We ended up paying through the nose to have work redone, sadly there were things that could not be rectified, including the inadequate acro propping which resulted in a significant shift in the upstairs rooms. Steels were measured and delivered wrong and walls were built crooked. He made our lives a living hell for 8 months!

He also operates/ed under Dickie Newman and Expansion Developments and Expansion London.
