James Allen's Girls' School (JAGS)

Postby Dr3amu » Sun Feb 13, 2022 4:10 pm

Hi,

I'd like to hear from parents whose children already attend the James Allen's Girls' School (JAGS), on how the school develops the child in terms of emotional development, social skills, etc from when they join in Year 7 to older year groups. Does the school put much more emphasis on academics rather than on an all-rounded learning and other soft skills? Also, how does your child feel and cope when placed in an average set rather than the top set?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Dr3amu

My niece went to JAGs and it’s a great school but your daughter has to be able to cope with what she described as ‘fierce’ competition. You think you’ve done well in a test but there were always plenty of others who had totally aced it. So, if you can cope with that, keep your head and realise that you’re just amongst very bright children, then all good. The pastoral care was good I understand but in the context of that environment as described.
Hope that helps
