Postby BenandJerry » Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:03 pm

Afternoon all. Heading to Norfolk in a few weekend's time and keen to get a recommendation for a hotel. Was thinking that there might be one of 'The Pig' chain there but cannot fin one. Any recommendations most appreciated.

It's a big county - whereabouts do you want to be?

Depends what you want - we had a lovely stay at the Victoria Inn at Holkham a few years back (so not sure what it is like now post COVID) but it's not a five stay hotel, more a really comfortable, friendly country inn.

Agree The Victoria wold be a good option, it's very close to Wells and a walk from Holkham Beach.

I can't think of anything like The Pig close to Wells, however other hotels to look at are The Harper at Langham, The White House Sussex Farm, The Blakeney Hotel, Morston Hall, The Hoste Arms Burnham Market.

I haven't stayed at any of these so have no idea which are 'family friendly' if you are travelling as a family.

There are a lot of lovely holiday cottages in the area if that is something you would also consider.

Enjoy.. North Norfolk is beautiful!.

The Crown in Wells; Blakeney Hotel in Blakeney; Sculthorpe Mill near Fakenham, Hoste Arms in Burnham Market, White Horse in Brancaster.
North Norfolk is a wash with beautiful holiday cottages. Lots of the pubs have rooms. Wells is a great base for a family holiday but not big on hotels.

I stated in Blakeney a few years ago and it was beautiful. We didn’t stay at the hotel but ate there and thought it looked lovely. Blakeney is set back from the main road that runs up the north Norfolk coast so is lovely and quiet.

Not sure whether it's the exact right area, but take a look at The Harper - it's a very cool, new (finally opened last year, its original opening date having been covid-hit), dog- and family-friendly hotel in the Holt area.  Lovely indoor pool and spa, v comfortable indoor and outdoor areas for chilling, great young staff and delicious food (if you feel like a serious splurge the fruits de mer is outstanding).  Highly recommend it.

The pigs in edgefield, byfords in Holt, pigs is same brand as ffolkes in Hillington, haven’t stayed there personally but I grew up in Norfolk so visit regularly to see family. We tend to stay in spa cabins at congham hall, or hoste in burnham market. The white horse is also wonderful.
