Lease Extension Negotiations Wandsworth Post Reply

Hello, we are mid process extending our lease with Wandsworth council. They have comeback with a price much higher than our surveyors estimate £12,000 vs £15,800.

The surveyor has asked if we want to attempt to negotiate this with the council at the cost of £500 pounds. 

Does anyone have much experience or had much success with negotiating with the council? I would like to negotiate a discount but hesitant to add further costs to this already large bill.

I am NOT an expert in this but am peripherally involved in a lease extension with Wandsworth at the moment. Assuming you are exercising a statutory right to extend I think you will find that it is not a meaningful negotiation but rather a formula being applied. So I suggest you get further advice before spending more on it - though it is probably worth having a solicitor. Hope that helps.
