Tooting Bec Lido will host the highly anticipated UK SLSC COLD WATER SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPs supported by dryrobe® on 25 JANUARY 2025.

The SLSC UK Cold Water Swimming Championships are unique - competitive swimming combined with frost-defying fun in the iconic setting of Tooting Bec Lido.

Inspired by Ice Swimming Championships in Finland, the SLSC brought the idea of competing in ice-cold water to London in January 2006. The event has grown over time and is now a favourite among open water swimmers all over the world with competitors crossing the globe to participate. The last event was held in 2019 (ie pre-Covid!)

In 2025, we expect round 700 swimmers from all over the world take part in over 100 races in water that is anything from 0ºC to 4ºC … wearing nothing but their swimming costumes, goggles and a hat (and the more cerative the hat the better!)

So, whether you're a seasoned cold-water swimmer or contemplating your first dip, the SLSC Cold Water Swimming Championships are a great, family friendly, 'craic' for swimmers and spectators alike with races for all abilities; a plunge for Crisis as well as great stalls for all your cold water swimming needs.

Race registration sold out in a record 4 days but there is still plenty of room for spectators who can enjoy plenty of great stalls selling everything a swimmer could want as well as live music, refreshments and of course, the fab atmosphere created by 700 very cold swimmers!
