And of course you will be be strongly advising any commercial landlords that Hamptons works with not to increase rents so aggressively?

"Hi Cynic
I hope you don't mind but I split the topic re. the collection into two
parts.

I think there are two separate discussions here, one of which is the
increase in rent etc and the other is the collection for the couple. I
don't want the two getting confused.

hope you understand!

Thanks"

Ok I think my post was a polite question, but I appreciate some discussions can alter in direction and if my post were to cause something like that to occur it *may* detract from publicising the collection.

However
1) perhaps you could have waited to see if this was the outcome of my post
2) It does feel like you've actually censured my post because:
(a) You haven't made an admin post on the original thread indicating that my post has been moved (This is considered best practice forum etiquette - that all/any editing is traceable);
(b) It seems my post now stands alone at the start of a new thread with no previous posts i.e. with no context at all, so reading it (corrected) doesn't make any sense

A collection for Harry & Mary from Harry's News

Postby actuallyadad » Fri Apr 24, 2015 11:23 am

I can't help but be cynical when an estate agent does anything "for the community". It's just more publicity for them.

Let's not forget that the reason the Northcote road shop sites are in demand and consequently the rents become so high pushing out small businesses is because of all the estate agents setting up there!

@ Jonathan - I think if you are posting as Chair of a local business network then you should delete references to the estate agent you work for. That way we know you are not posting on behalf of them and this isn't just more marketing.

Re: Harry & Mary from Harry's News- updated version

I think the fact that Northcote road is becoming a street where basically the only thing the shops sell is houses deters casual shoppers.

These are the kind of people which a newsagent relies on and helps explain why they shut.
