Black Friday, crazy Saturday and Sunday, Cyber Monday…thank goodness it’s Bog Standard Thursday. Shame the coffers are empty, but looking on the bright side, doing fairly well on the Christmas list. For what to do and when to do it, keep our calendar close at hand. Battersea Power Station launches ‘Light Up Winter’ tomorrow, a fun-filled festive weekend, with everything from LED Hula Hoop discos, Battersea Brewery beer tasting and jazz to wreath making sessions, candle-making workshops and a massive interactive tree (read more).

Tonight ‘tis the night for the Friends of Wix Christmas Market with plenty of shopping and the mention of pizzas and festive drinks to keep you going..(read more).

The St Luke’s Christmas Market is back on Saturday with a better-than-ever array of stalls to get that Christmas list done! With mince pies, mulled wine and a Christmas café on offer too, it’s a Saturday stop not to be missed! (read more)

It’s Balham’s turn to get festive on Sunday with the Balham Christmas Lights Celebration & Switch On, with family activities on Hildreth Street and Bedford Hill Place, entertainment and flicking the switch as the light fades (read more).

Not long to go until the Advent Fair at London Steiner School with a Gnome Grotto, storytelling and candle dipping as well as a Christmas market and live music (read more).

Parenting – is there a manual?

Time for another of First Aid for Life’s Weekend Paediatric First Aid Courses, just three hours of your time to learn potentially life-saving skills (read more).

And their Full Day Courses in the same Balham setting fulfil Ofsted requirements if you work with children and need that knowledge and accreditation (read more).
