The school summer holidays are now very nearly here for everyone and it looks like the weather has received the memo too; with sunny skies and pleasantly warm temperatures the order of the day. So, if you are around and about in London keep both the sun cream and our calendar close to hand, which will ensure you’re not stuck for an idea on how to entertain your big or little ones whatever the British summertime decides to throw at us weather wise (read more).

Summer holiday fun for the children

Head to Wandsworth Town Library this Saturday morning for a Portuguese storytime and craft session. Plus, whilst you’re there children can sign-up for the Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge running across all libraries (read more).

Little Gym is running gymnastics camps all summer for 3-12 year olds. The first camp is kicking off next week (read more).

There’s a dance workshop for pre-schoolers / nursery age children at the Tooting Bec Lido next Wednesday afternoon run by Solasta Dance Academy and the theme couldn’t be more timely; it’s The Lion King (read more).

For primary school-age children, there’s also a movie-themed dance workshop for them run by Dance Grooves in Putney next Thursday morning, perfect for all Mamma Mia fans (read more).

There will be moving mayhem in Wandsworth Town’s Children’s library next Thursday morning! Hip-Hop, Jump-Dance, move and groove in a fab free street dance workshop for ages 5+ (read more).

Eddie Catz Wimbledon is holding an after-hours Laser Tag fun evening next Thursday. Expect disco music, lights and smoke! (read more)

Another event at Wandsworth Town Library, meet Lorraine Piddington, author of, The Aliens who loved Lemon Curd next Friday morning where she will be reading her amazing alien picture books (read more).

Confident Kidz is running a Secondary School Success workshop next Friday, to help children going into year 7 deal with any issues that they might be worried about with their secondary school transition (read more).

The Science Fictionaries are coming to The Blue Elephant Theatre in Camberwell next Saturday morning. Join them in their top-secret lab, before they head off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where they will be trying to collect the fizziest, flashiest, most marvellous stories about science! (read more)

Lavender Leonardo’s Art School in Battersea are holding a very special Superhero Art Party next Sunday afternoon in aid of the charity, ‘Joey’s Fund’. Children attending the party can come dressed as superheroes and the teachers will be too! There will be superhero art, party food and party bags for all attending (read more).

Summer holiday fun for the grown ups

Head down to Brindisa in Balham to learn how to cook your favourite tapas next Thursday evening, where talented Catalan Chef, Leo will demonstrate how to make 6 rice and pasta dishes, all inspired by cookbook ‘The True Food of Spain’, by Monika Linton (read more).

Come along and join London Small Biz Network and The Sheen Network for their joint Summer Business Networking Party next Tuesday evening. This is a business networking event with a summer twist, for anyone who lives or works in the Putney/Wandsworth area and further afield including Sheen, Richmond, Barnes, Mortlake, Kew and SW London (read more).

The Baby Cot Shop are hosting a baby first aid and tea workshop next Friday morning to teach you how to keep your baby safe whilst enjoying a cup of tea and cake (read more).

Summer holiday fun for all the family

Have you checked out the recently refurbished Skylark Café? It’s looking really fab and this summer you can make the most of sunny Wandsworth Common on their terrace. The café is open every day until 6pm and all their food is freshly prepared, with options for all the family! (read more)

Fiesta de Mexico is coming to the City of London for three days next weekend. Taking place over 26th-28th July in Guildhall Yard, the square, decorated with colourful ‘papel picado’ bunting, will recreate one of Mexico’s famous fiestas, complete with authentic food, drink and produce stalls (read more).

The UK’s first baby friendly Aperitivo hour launches this August in Clapham. Hosted at Minnow in Clapham, every Wednesday this August, Baby Aperitivo will make life easier for busy families looking to enjoy a spritz or two and a light bite in the sunshine. Families who order drinks and nibbles during this dedicated ‘Baby Aperitivo’ hour, will receive a complimentary baby friendly aperitivo from baby food brand Piccolo (read more).
