FOUR hundred new SW18 flats

FOUR hundred new SW18 flats

Dear NappyValleyNetter,

After a weekend dubbed Super Saturday, as our restaurants, bars and barbers finally re-opened, here at NappyValleyNet we paused for a while to think of our designer, Jon Kemp, who very recently passed away.

A Du Cane Court resident for nearly 20 years he loved Balham and would have been one of the first to line up for his first post-lockdown tipple.

Jon helped make NappyValleyNet what it is today and worked with many of our advertising partners over the years as well as our close-knit team. He will be sorely missed and we’re proud of the legacy he leaves behind (read more).

It goes without saying our thoughts are with his many friends and family.

Here’s what you’ve been talking about on NappyValleyNet:

S. is due to pay the balance on a villa holiday she is having this summer with two other families but at this late stage her husband wants them to pull out (read more). Please remember when replying that this is a real person with a real problem.

W. is at a local prep school and has struggled a little over the years so will not be heading to the same schools as many of her peers after the 11+. She’s starting to feel left out – what best to do? (read more) This must be such a stressful situation for you all, I hope NappyValleyNet can help.

If you’re concerned about the possibility of redundancy in the Covid-19 landscape, then take a look at this advice and guidance from Bellevue Law (read more).

H. asks if anyone knows what the plans are for the now fallow bowling greens on Clapham Common? (read more) A massive pop-up Prosecco garden would get my vote!

Northcote Road is going to be pedestrianised at weekends (read more). TFL have agreed that all the 4X4 Chelsea Tractors cars will be banned to allow for a huge bacchanalian festival of outdoor eating and drinking.

Sticking with road closures: you might not know the street by name but most Balhamites will have driven down it: the short cut from Bedford Hill past Ravenstone school has been closed to motor traffic. Great news for Ravenstone School but perhaps less so for Ritherdon Road? (read more)

Still sticking with road closures: Old York Road is to be closed to traffic to allow for al fresco eating and drinking to allow for a massive bacchanalian festival etc etc (read more).

The debate about schools admitting more pupils and how that has been managed across a great raft of local schools goes on (read more).

And ideas still coming in following J’s post asking about options for late applications to start private in September (read more)

Lizzie’s on Webb’s Road has just re-opened with lots of bargains for the next three months or so. She’d also really appreciate the advice of a local property lawyer (read more).

Another Santander bike docking station is to be installed at Clapham Common following record usage (read more). I think that means they were really popular, not that people were playing vinyl gramophone discs around the bicycles.

News that FOUR HUNDRED new flats and a new business centre are to be developed by the River Wandle in Wandsworth (read more). We DO need more homes so I guess this is a good idea.
