Yet another schools guide? Why?
There is a vast amount of great content on the internet about schools – we know as we’ve been publishing a big chunk of it since 2009 on our sister site NappyValleyNet.
Blogs, forums, reviews, magazines, government sources there is so much information out there.
And that’s the problem.
It’s hard to know where to start, it’s hard to know who to trust and it’s even harder not to get overwhelmed.
Which is why we launched The Great British Schools Guide (GBSG).
The GBSG is a one-stop platform which reviews every school in England, both independent and state.
Coverage for schools in Scotland and Wales will be added by Q2 2025.
School interviews, parental feedback, exam results, league tables, government data and regulatory reports are combed over by our team of researchers, analysts and journalists to create carefully curated editorials unparalleled in their range of sources and depth of coverage.
And that’s not all.
We’ve been running London’s most popular parenting community – NappyValleyNet – since 2009, and that has taught us how to engage with parents and how to encourage them to share their advice and experiences. Schools is the single most-used forum of our multi-forum based site, in short it’s what gets parents talking the most.
Which means that in addition to government data and a school’s own news, we have forum-based reviews and discussions from parents whose children attend these schools.
So, if you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for or what to know the finer details about a school, we have easy-to-use mechanics for you to ask.
But that’s still not all.
Unlike other guides, which are set behind paywalls which demand your hard-earned cash to pass through, the GBSG is free to use and always will be. We make our money from advertising which means that parents, guardians and other stakeholders will never have to pay for access.
Finally, to support families from around the world exploring the British school system, our content is translated into major languages such as Mandarin, Arabic, French, German and more.
In a nutshell: government data, supplemented with interviews, school news and parental feedback that will always be accurate and 100% free.
That’s our promise to you – the users of The Great British School’s Guide.
Welcome, we hope you find it useful, and if you have any questions please do get in touch.
