Streatham & Clapham High School GDST, located in south-west London, is a day school for girls aged three to 18 encompassing Nursery, Prep, Senior and Sixth Form, which provides a vibrant, diverse and supportive learning environment. Its mission is to be inspiring, enlightened and intellectually rigorous and last year students achieved their best-ever examination results, placing the school in the top 20% of independent schools nationally.
This year (2024) was no different, with impressive GCSE results, reflecting a breadth of success across a full range of subjects, with 22 students achieving an impressive seven or more grades at 9 or 8 (A*). Overall, 60% of all GCSE grades achieved were within the 9 to 7 range. Particularly noteworthy was the success in specific subjects: 40% of grades in Art, 35% in PE and 30% in Religious Studies were the top grade 9, underscoring the diverse talents and interests of the school’s cohort.
In the sciences, an average of 90% of girls achieved grades 9 to 7 in separate sciences, where 30% of these grades were grade 9, while in languages, every student achieved grades 9 or 8 in Chinese, introduced in 2024 for the first time.

A-Level examination results for 2024 showed a significant improvement of the top A* – A grades which have increased by 7% since last year to 45% of all A-level grades, with 14.5% A* grades. In total, 72% of grades were A* to B reflected in the impressive successes at university entrance, with 74% of students holding places at their first-choice university and 90% placed at their first or second university choice.
The school provides a broad, challenging and enriched curriculum and its academic success is promoted by small classes and high expectations, hoping to inspire students to feel excited about learning, supported by wide-ranging and sometimes quirky co-curricular opportunities, and grounded in a culture of excellent pastoral care where every pupil feels they belong. There is a supportive environment for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), working closely with students, parents, and teachers to ensure that all students thrive academically and socially.
