Newcastle School for Boys is an independent day school located in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. Established in 2005 through the merger of two preparatory schools, it has since expanded to include a senior school and a sixth form. The junior school, which encompasses the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), is situated approximately half a mile from the senior school and sixth form. The school operates as a registered charity governed by a board of governors.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the school remained open only for children of key workers from March to August 2020, providing remote learning materials for all pupils during this period. The inspection process was adapted to include both remote and on-site evidence gathering to minimize contact within the school. The inspection did not evaluate the effectiveness of provisions made during the lockdown, focusing instead on the welfare of pupils and compliance with regulations.
